Music and Film Career

Babbu Mann is a Punjabi singer, actor, writer, music composer, lyricist and film producer. Babbu Mann made his debut as a singer in the year 1998 with Sajjan Rumal De Giya, but came into prominence after his 1999 hit album Tu Meri Miss India, which had some songs from his earlier album in the newer versions. In 2001, Saun Di Jhadi released which became an instant success. In 2003, Babbu Mann made his debut as an actor, producer & music director in the critically acclaimed Punjabi/Hindi bilingual Hit film Hawayein (2003). His performance as a supporting actor Kanpuria in Hawayein (2003) was highly commendable. As a singer, in 2004-05, he went on to release commercial successes Ohi Chann Ohi Rataan (2004) & Pyaas (2005). In 2006, he starred in his second film Rabb Ne Banaiyan Jodiean which was a flop at the box office. Babbu Mann also scored the music for Rabba Ne Banaiyan Jodiean (2006) which were a runaway success. In 2007, he came out with his 6th studio album Mera Gham which was a success. In 2008, he starred in his 3rd film, Hashar... A Love Story, which became a Super Hit at the box office. Mann ventured into film production with Hashar... A Love Story (2008) & scored the music of the film. In the same year, Babbu Mann came up with a single titled "Sardar" in 2008 album Aao Saare Nachiye, that became an instant Hit. 2009 was a dull year for Mann as he had no film or album release that year, though he released two singles, "Uchhian Imaartaan" & "Aashquan Di Line" in the album Aao Saare Nachiye 2. In 2009, Babbu Mann released his first religious album Singh Better Than King (2009), which become a rage throughout. In 2010, Babbu Mann starred in his home production Ekam - Son of Soil (2010), which went to become the second biggest grosser of 2010 and also Mann's biggest Hit to date. Apart from scoring the music, Babbu Mann also wrote the lyrics of Ekam - Son of Soil (2010) which went on to top the charts. In 2011, he appeared and produced his 5th film as an actor, which was titled Hero Hitler In Love. The film took a terrific opening but crashed after the first weekend due to negative reports. It was declared a Semi-Hit. In 2012, he appeared in Desi Romeos, the film was welcomed by the youth and was declared a Hit at the Box Office. In 2013, Mann will be seen in Prince Of Patiala.
Apart from his versatile roles in the Punjabi Cinema & Music industry, Mann has sung three super hit Bollywood tracks - Rabb Na Kare (also the music composer) from Vaada Raha (2009), Challa from Crook: It's Good To Be Bad (2010) and Jugni from Saheb Biwi and Gangster (2011).
Babbu Mann has a presence and aura that most of his contemporaries can't even dream of. His stage shows have some of the biggest crowds in not just Punjab or India but the entire world. He is a bold lyricist and sings like a fearless warrior. This particular quality of his connects him so well to his audience. He is also one of the few singers who writes his own lyrics and composes his own music.

Personal Life

Babbu Mann, (originally named as Tejinder Singh Mann) was born on March 29, 1975; in a Sikh jat family in Khant Maanpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, India. Babbu Mann has been very fond of playing music since his childhood. He went on to stage at the age of seven, when he sang at the school function in his village school. He would see everything through the eyes of a musician, even turning cooking pans into musical instruments as he created rhythmic sounds. He learned writing lyrics when he was in school. He studied in Punjab University, Chandigarh. Around the age of 16, he started singing and composing music.


He recorded his first album at age of 23.
